A Hicksville psychiatrist faces up to a year in prison for sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl during counseling in his offices in Rego Park, Queens, authorities said yesterday, but the therapist\’s attorney vowed to appeal the verdict.

Raj A. Danthuluri, 40, of 810 Highview Ave., was convicted Monday of endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree sexual abuse after a three-day trial before Queens Supreme Court Justice Barry Kron, said Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.

Danthuluri, who chose to be tried before a judge instead of a jury, was found guilty of fondling the patient on May 14 and July 23, 2007.

But attorney Joseph Hanshe of Sayville said he believes his client is innocent and promised to appeal. Danthuluri is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 13.

\”I fervently believe he\’s innocent,\” Hanshe said. \”He\’s obviously very upset about this. He\’s got family, and he\’s got children. He\’s a wonderful man and a wonderful doctor, and we\’re going to appeal this.\”
