Today, PsychSearch.net released more documents in the national investigation of top psych prescribers.

States released today are: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan and Nebraska.

One egregious example, Fernando Mendez-Villamil, the Miami psychiatrist who wrote $43 million worth of psych drugs between 2004 – 2009 (over 150 prescriptions per day!). Mendez-Villamil was terminated from the Medicaid program after he was exposed in the press.

Mendez-Villamil fought back by filing a lawsuit against the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration for the “improper termination”, but apparently his attorneys did not share his enthusiasm. In what appears to be an unceremonious end to his lawsuit (and public Medicaid funding) both of his attorneys filed motions to withdraw from his case. Earlier this year, the court docket simply read:
ORDER ON COUNSEL FOR PLAINTIFF PAMELA I PERRY’S MOTION TO WITHDRAW – GRANTED
ORDER ON COUNSEL FOR PLAINTIFF ROBERT N PELIER’S MOTION TO WITHDRAW – GRANTED

Stay tuned for more news on Mendez-Villamil!

The complete story on the pushback against psychiatrists and now pain killer prescribers has yet to be told, but will be soon enough. If you are savvy at analyzing and evaluating, you can help tabulate and summarize the data, nationally, state by state. Contact project@psychsearch.net
