Shaw psychiatrist found guilty

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. (AFNS) — An eight-member panel of brigadier generals and colonels found Col. Djalma A. Braga guilty of one specification each of dereliction of duty, conduct unbecoming an officer and adultery.

The panel found Braga not guilty of two specifications each of dereliction of duty and conduct unbecoming an officer and one specification each of making a false official statement, sodomy and obstructing justice.

Braga, a psychiatrist assigned to the 20th Medical Group, was given a reprimand, six months confinement and forfeiture of $1,500 a month for 60 months. The confinement will be served at the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

The charges stemmed from an investigation of sexual misconduct involving Braga and three of his female psychiatric patients by the Office of Special Investigations.
