ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The New York State Parole Board has denied early release to the Rochester psychiatrist who pleaded guilty to hiding the body of a man in his backyard.

William Lewek pleaded guilty last year to tampering with physical evidence and driving while ability impaired.

Lewek was arrested in January 2014 after investigators found the body of Matthew Straton partially buried in the backyard of Lewek’s Rowley Street home. Straton disappeared in October 2013.

Lewek was sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in state prison. He’ll be eligible for parole again in April of 2018.
