Trainee who made false claims resumes practice
Trainee Psychiatrist Amina Rafi
A trainee psychiatrist who was suspended from the UK medical register for nine months for exaggerating her experience and falsely claiming that she had breast cancer has been allowed to resume practice. Amina Rafi, who began as a CT2 doctor at the high security Broadmoor Hospital in February 2018, wrongly told colleagues that she had previously been a registrar in geriatrics and was a member of the Royal College of Physicians. She also falsely told her clinical supervisor that she had breast cancer and needed treatment. The tribunal reviewing her case was satisfied that she had full insight and had maintained her knowledge and skills and that her fitness to practise was no longer impaired.
