SEATTLE – A Tacoma psychiatrist and his wife have been accused of using altered income-tax returns to obtain nearly $ 2 million in government and private bank loans.
A federal grand jury returned an 18-count indictment against Dr. Jessy Ang, 47, and his wife, Editha, 48, Gig Harbor residents, charging them with multiple counts of bank fraud, making false statements to banks, and tax fraud. The indictment also seeks forfeiture of property from the couple, including the office building in Tacoma where Ang’s practice is located.
Federal prosecutors allege that Ang, who once temporarily headed the Philippines consulate here, and his wife, identified as his office manager, maintained two sets of tax returns, one underreporting business income, and a second overstating income to qualify for more than a half-dozen bank and SBA loans.
