The Orange County Jail’s lone psychiatrist was released from jail Wednesday on charges that include domestic violence.
Dr. Arturo Rafael Hernandez of Orlando was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday on charges of domestic violence and tampering with a witness to hinder communication with a law-enforcement officer.
As the only psychiatrist on staff, he is responsible for consulting with inmates who have mental-health problems.
Orange County jail spokesman Alan Moore said Hernandez had a court hearing Wednesday and was released on $750 bail. Hernandez, who has worked at the jail for about 1 1/2 years, will return to work Friday. Authorities said he has done excellent work
