State board suspends psychiatrist’s license, imposes fine

The Iowa Board of Medical Examiners has suspended indefinitely the license of a psychiatrist who authorities say had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a patient.
The state board also fined Dr. Sridhar Yaratha, 34, $10,000.
Yaratha, who entered into a settlement agreement with the board, also was disciplined in August by officials in West Virginia for the relationship, records show.
The Iowa board filed charges against Yaratha in February. The board’s action was the result of violations of board rules and laws, and discipline by the state of West Virginia.
Staff at the Vera French Community Health Center, in Davenport, said Yaratha no longer practices there.
