The former head of the Harris County Jail’s psychiatric unit has been accused of charging a fee for patients to have sex with him and two female surrogates at his Galleria-area sex therapy practice, officials said Thursday.
Marvin A. Stone, 58, is charged with two counts of aggravated promotion of prostitution – a third-degree felony that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
According to court documents, Stone was arrested last month after an undercover sting operation conducted by Houston Police Department vice officers targeted his practice in the 4500 block of Post Oak Place.
During an arraignment hearing Wednesday, prosecutor Kelly Siegler told state District Judge Jeannine Barr that Stone was engaging in sexual activities with patients and allowing two women to have sex with his patients as well.
Defense lawyer Rusty Hardin said that his client, who is a medical doctor, was operating a legitimate psychiatric practice.
“He believed then and now that he was practicing accepted sex therapy medicine,” Hardin said.
Siegler disagreed Thursday.
“How many doctors do you know of have sex with their patients,” Siegler said.
Siegler said anyone with information about Stone’s sex therapy practice or anyone who thinks they may have been victimized by him should call the HPD vice division at 713-308-8600.
Stone is free on a $ 15,000 bail. His next court appearance is set for June 7.
