Thiells psychiatrist accused of negligence

THIELLS - A Rockland psychiatrist has had his license to practice medicine limited by the state Department of Health after he was charged with negligence on more than one occasion , according to state records.
Shyam Patil was also charged with failure to maintain accurate patient records. He did not contest either charge, records show.
The state Board for Professional Medical Conduct took action against Patil after he treated a 46-year-old man.
The board found that Patil’s treatment of the patient “deviated from minimum accepted standards of care” because he failed to adequately evaluate and treat him and he “failed to maintain a record which adequately reflected the care and treatment” of the patient.
Records show that Patil practiced psychiatry in Cornwall, N.Y. He is also listed as a psychiatrist with a group practice on Wilbur Road in Thiells.
