Former mental health officials sentenced to jail

Psychiatrist Joel Hanson
Second District Judge Pam Heffernan this week also ordered Hanson to continue his therapy with his private counselor, attend a weekly sex offender group therapy program, attend sex addicts anonymous and participate in an “intensive community sex-offender program.”
Hanson, 39, Centerville, was arrested July 22, about three weeks after two 21-year-old Ogden women reported he had secretly videotaped them undressing in his motor home.
One of the women found the remote camera running inside a small black box with a two-way mirror in the dressing room and confiscated the video, which also showed Hanson looking into the camera while adjusting its settings.
Hanson had invited the women to his trailer individually for photo shoots, claiming to be a photographer named Jed Jensen.
He was traced from the registration of the motor home, and was charged with two counts of third-degree felony witness tampering and one count of misdemeanor privacy violation.
The witness-tampering charge stemmed from Hanson’s alleged threat, after they had found the camera, to distribute nude photos of them if they contacted police.
In a plea bargain, he pleaded guilty to one of the felonies and the misdemeanor.
Hanson was dismissed from his Davis County post in September.
Hanson also directed the geriatric-psychiatrics department at Davis Hospital and Medical Center.
