Accused of assault
Vincent Victor Berg, 61, was employed at the Townsville Mental Health Unit in 2000 when he allegedly touched the genitals of a 15-year-boy during a physical examination.
Berg, who now lives on the Gold Coast, yesterday pleaded not guilty in the Southport District Court to one count of indecent treatment of a child.
Crown prosecutor Mark Whitbread said Berg went to the family’s Aitkenvale home in late 2000 and asked to see the boy alone.
The boy confided in his mother in 2002 but didn’t reveal the extent of his complaint until 2005.
The trial will continue today before Judge Katherine McGinness.
