GLORIA VANDERBILT has won a $1.5 million judgment against her former psychiatrist and her former lawyer, who is now deceased, The Associated Press reported yesterday. They were accused of preying on her wealth and emotional fragility.

Justice EDWARD J. GREENFIELD of the State Supreme Court in Manhattan said he agreed with a lawyers’ disciplinary committee that concluded in 1992 that Thomas A. Andrews, the lawyer, had misappropriated funds and diverted them to himself and to Dr. Christ L. Zois, the psychiatrist.

“In her mind, the worst betrayal was by the psychiatrist, whom she trusted completely, even though Andrews did everything,” Ms. Vanderbilt’s attorney, Jerome Walsh, said in January after the lawsuit was filed.

The late Mr. Andrews, who was disbarred in December, had contended that Miss Vanderbilt approved all the transactions that she later fought.

Justice Greenfield awarded Miss Vanderbilt $1,383,199.41 from Mr. Andrews’s estate and $97,300 plus interest from Dr. Zois, who did not answer phone calls.
