A PERVY shrink intimately touched “very vulnerable” women in his care and handled their breasts, a panel heard today.

Dr Himanshu Ghadiali told one patient who had been sexually abused in childhood that she had “perfect breasts”, the General Medical Council hearing was told.

The consultant psychiatrist then told the woman he “understood why people would want to have sex with her because she had a lovely figure”.

The doc is accused of touching the private parts of four patients.

Three of whom also claim Dr Ghadiali handled their breasts during the 1980s and 1990s while he worked in the East Midlands.

One mental health patient had complained to Dr Ghadiali that she was not enjoying her relationship with her partner, the hearing was told.

The GMC, sitting in Manchester, heard the doctor carried out an internal examination of the woman, known as Patient A, and also felt her breasts.

GMC counsel Peter Atherton said the doctor later told Patient A “the reason for her sexual problems was a muscle in her vagina that needed exercising, and he said he would do that for her”.

The doctor went on to touch her again on a number of further appointments at his home, the hearing was told.

“The patient had not suspected that Dr Ghadiali’s behaviour had been inappropriate,” Mr Atherton said.

One woman, Patient C, who had been sexually abused as a child, was being treated for depression, emotional difficulties and pain during sexual intercourse.

The panel heard how the doctor touched her on unknown dates in 1987 and 1988 at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.

The GMC was told another woman, known as Patient B, had been informed by the doctor that she may have a hormonal imbalance and an internal examination should be performed.

The woman felt “concerned and uncomfortable” about the prospect and asked the doctor’s secretary if her husband could attend, Mr Atherton said.

When the pair arrived for the appointment, they were informed that the doctor had left.

Patient B returned on her own the following week and Dr Ghadiali told her he felt the time he spent with her had been “wasted” and she clearly did not trust him.

Mr Atherton said: “He told her that she was a failure and he never wanted to see her again and to get out of his office.”

The doctor is also accused of touching another woman referred to as Patient D, who was being treated for loss of libido at the Kingsway Hospital in Derbyshire between 1993 and 1995.

And a Patient E was allegedly left “very distressed” by the doctor’s actions.

Mr Atherton said: “The GMC alleges that his conduct was sexually motivated, not in the best interests of the patients, and likely to bring the medical profession into disrepute, and that he failed to make any adequate record of his consultations.”

Dr Ghadiali admits once touching Patient C. He also admits handling the breasts of Patient D at the Kingsway Hospital on unknown dates between 1993 and 1995.

The hearing was adjourned until tomorrow morning.
