Two Psychiatrists Accused of Fraud

Two Long Island psychiatrists have been indicted on charges of Medicaid fraud for falsely inflating the amount of time they spent with patients from 1987 from 1988, officials said yesterday.

Dr. Eugeniu Liteanu of Ridge was indicted on five counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, while Dr. Redencio Bugaoan of Massapequa was charged with six counts of the same felony

Bugaoan was charged with submitting false reimbursement claims between Dec. 18, 1987, and July 11, 1988, stating that on 26 separate occasions he had provided psychotherapy sessions of more than 30 minutes to Medicaid patients.
