STATE REVOKES PSYCHIATRIST’S MEDICAL LICENSE
October 6, 2002
The Florida Board of Medicine permanently revoked Dr. Ronald Malave’s license at a meeting in Miami.
Malave, whose patient said he was having sexual relations with one of her personas, has vowed to fight to have his license reinstated by the 1st District Court of Appeal.
Malave was acquitted in April of criminal charges that he violated a state law that prohibits psychotherapists from having sexual relations with their patients.
An administrative-law judge recommended that the board revoke his license, saying that investigators had established convincing evidence that Malave had sexual intercourse with the patient during his treatment of her.
