Points toward medication as contributor to violence

The News-Times recently ran an article quoting a psychologist who said the shooting by Adam Lanza was unpredictable and that some 75 percent of these mass shootings have been committed by children in school.A better and more complete picture was painted by top psychiatrist Dr. David Healy of London, England, in a recent interview in New York, when Dr. Healy stated … that psychotropic drugs are behind school massacres, and that “when 9 out of 10 cases in both the school shootings and other mass shootings involve these drugs being prescribed, then a significant portion of these cases were either caused by these drugs being prescribed, or the drugs made a significant contribution to the problem.”
“Pyschotropic drugs prescribed for school children cause violent and aggressive behavior” And “Children taking Psychotropic drugs called SSRI drugs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors), are more likely to harm or injure children at school,” Dr. Healy said.
Independently, a sortable database of some 5,000 cases in which SSRI drugs have been associated with violent behavior in the U.S. and worldwide has been posted on the internet, compiled from scientific journals as well as Federal Drug Administration testimony. SSRI drugs covered include: Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Celxa, Lexappro, and Luvox.
So if we want to find the root cause, why have Adam Lanza’s records been sealed? Why are we protecting records of a dead criminal? Note: Guns are just the tools chosen. Criminals and mental cases ignore laws. Adam Lanza broke over 20 laws.
Guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are not the problem. That is why we armed airline pilots after 9/11. Note: If airline pilots were armed on 9/11, things probably would have turned out very differently. Armed pilots may have prevented 3,000 murdered, maybe even prevented two wars.
