Grand jury gets I-24 shooting case
Aggravated assault charges were bound over to a grand jury Tuesday against Alex Fider, a Shelbyville, Tenn., psychiatrist accused of shooting into a van on Interstate 24.
Marion County General Sessions Court Judge Mark Raines sent the case to the grand jury during a 45-minute preliminary hearing.
Dr. Fider, who worked at the VA hospital in Murfreesboro, has been out on bond since the Aug. 20 incident. He was ordered back to court Oct. 13 to hear the results of the grand jury findings.
According to law enforcement reports, Dr. Fider was arrested along I-24 in Kimball after a Tullahoma man called the Tennessee Highway Patrol saying a man in a blue van had fired several times at the van he was driving.
