STATE SUSPENDS PSYCHIATRIST’S LICENSE

The state’s Board of Registration in Medicine yesterday suspended the medical license of Dr. Arthur M. Palladino Jr., an Amherst psychiatrist, accusing him of engaging in sexual relationships with two patients and concealing one case from the board. Palladino, 53, admitted in April to having a sexual relationship with one patient, but asked for leniency, citing his candor, the support of his colleagues, and saying under oath that he had never had an inappropriate relationship with another patient. But subsequently, according to the board, another patient came forward and alleged a similar relationship with Palladino between 1989 and 1993. The board suspended his license pending the outcome of an investigation. Palladino, who is listed as a staff member of the Amherst College Counseling Center, declined to comment.
