Psych doc has license suspended
May 16, 1997

An Andover psychiatrist has had his license to practice medicine suspended indefinitely for controlled substance violations.

The Board of Registration in Medicine said Dr. Laurence F. Levine issued prescriptions for painkillers on six different occasions to one of his patients and provided the patient with money to buy the drugs.

Then, he arranged to have the patient deliver the drugs to him, the board said.

Levine may not petition to get his license back until February 1998.
