2 Indicted by U.S. In Medicare Fraud

EMERY BERCZELLER psychiatrist psychsearch.netA Federal grand jury in Manhattan indicted a psychiatrist and a psychologist on charges of filing false Medicare claims in a 15-month period at the Beacon Hall Home for Adults in Beacon, N.Y.

The psychiatrist, Dr. Emery Berczeller of Forest Hills, Queens, and the psychologist, George Cohen of Spring Valley, N.Y., were accused of filing claims for services that were not performed.

The defendants filed the claims after asking mentally disabled patients at the home to sign blank Medicare forms, according to the prosecutor, Sara E. Steinbock.
