A Fall River psychiatrist was given a suspended sentence, placed on probation and fined $11,000 yesterday for illegally prescribing drugs and defrauding Medicaid.

Bristol Superior Court Judge Robert Kane sentenced Dr. Kennard C. Kobrin, who was found guilty of three charges in December.

Attorney Robert Griffith, counsel for Kobrin, said the ruling will be appealed.
