The Maryland Board of Physicians on Tuesday announced disciplinary actions against two Maryland-based psychiatrists for failing to meet basic standards of psychiatric care. According to a board announcement, Dr. Myron Brenner of Owings Mills “surrendered his license to avoid disciplinary charges and the prosecution of the charges based on his unprofessional and sexual relationship with a female patient while under his care as her treating psychiatrist. ” Brenner may not apply for nor seek reinstatement of his medical license for five years.
In the second case, Dr. Patsy Firth of Bel Air was reprimanded and placed on probation for two years. The board said Firth “failed to meet the standards of quality care and failed to maintain adequate medical records in regard to 10 juvenile patients receiving residential psychiatric services. ”
