A top celebrity psychiatrist took his own life after hearing he was being investigated by the General Medical Council. Dr Mike McPhillips, who helped celebrities including The Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, feared the complaint being made public, an inquest into his death heard.

Four days after receiving an email from the GMC detailing the complaint, he called police to tell them where he intended to kill himself and asked them to “find him before a member of the public did”.
